Reflection 09

Today is the last day for our subject.
This module is really useful and fun for me. The lecturer was nice and friendly. I have learn so much more about internet now! I didn't the differences about all the search engines and databases before this module. I guess metacrawler was something totally new to me! I had never in my life came across metacrawler until I came to this class. To me, all the search engines was pretty much the same, it just searching for informations that you need.

But after 4 weeks of lesson in class, i learnt that each search engines has its functions and features that functions differently. Each engines are created with its purpose. the class was engaging too! Yes, I guess I really did learn a lot from the class.

Another good thing is, I get to know new classmates from different course and had fun having class with them. I will definitely apply what I have learn for my future researches and findings for inspirations for my designs!

Goodbye everyone! I hope everybody enjoy the class as much as I do!
Smile :)

My dream holiday

My dream holiday would be a trip to France, Paris. It is a beautiful countryside with great food and wine, and definitely a place with a history full of art, architecture and monuments.

The Eiffel Tower will be my first destination in Paris. Lying on the grass at the Champs de mars and gazing at the amazing structure. Wow, that would be wonderful and totally a worthwhile trip!

Shopping in Paris would be the best for any fashion-conscious traveller like me. All the best designers have boutiques in Paris, even if we've a tight budget, it is also worth a visit just to breathe in the elegance. A shopping trip will be incomplete without the visit to les grands magasins, Paris' huge department stores. It has everything you could ever dream of, including clothes of big designer names. For a shoestring budget shopping, the flea market would be the best choices for me to explore.

Of course, the museums are to be missed! The Notre Dame cathedral, with it awesome exterior and ornate interior, is the definite must go. There so many nice and inspiring place to go to, starting at the world famous Louvre, to the Mona Lisa, and other pieces of amazing art. Just only that, I think i'll would take several days to cover the Louvre.

Reflection 07

We had the 2nd class test today. Wasnt prepare at all, but thank god I passed!! :)
After our test, we had to evaluate you tube in our groups. You tube is one of now one of youngster favourite website something we cant live without. It is kind of inspiration and a stream to let me relief my stress at school with all those funnies videos and inspirational ones you can find there.

You can basically find almost any kind of videos in youtube. It is fast and the content is massive. It just fill me in with entertainments and laugh my jaws off those funny and more funny videos!

We did the usual thing, finding out the pro and cons, what are the improvement that you tube could do. We really had fun sharing what we have discover to the rest of the class, showing and sharing videos with everyone.

Lastly, I'll end of sharing some of these videos, I hope you'll enjoy as much as I do.

Reflection 06

Today we learn how to evaluate a website. Before I have this class, a website is just a website. I didn't know that web page can have so much factors that decide whether is a good and useful site or it is bad and useless site. To me, the site that can't provide me the information I want, is a relatively average and useless site. But now I learnt that a good and reliable webpage is made up of its purpose, the coverage of the site, the accuracy, authorities, the usability and the currency all contribute to building a good site.

The invention of cyber is just a whole new world to explore and learn. There so much more we have yet to learn! We have become so dependent on internet that, a com with the net is just like a handicapped who feel so immobile and inconvenient.

Reflection 05

Today we had our class test online. I'm glad that I've pass. It is much more tougher than I thought. We also learned how to use TP Spark. Until today  then only i realize about library books 24x7. If only I knew it earlier, it could have been so much help to my school works and projects. But it still not too late to learn about this website now, I would definitely utilize it to the fullest! :)

The databases and all the other search engines we explored this week, has both their strength and weakness. I feel that every of the engines has its purpose. The invisible web is less accessible compared to the other search engines, but after trying TP Spark today, I find it useful in some ways.

I would definitely use the invisible web for my future research as design is not only about the visual, most of the time we need to do a thorough research on our brief which are very much related to the social and world issues. Invisible web in this case is very useful to me as has many of this good resources which other search engines might not have.

This week has been a fruitful week learning all the in-depth stuffs like the databases, search engines and directory and the different methods for searching for informations which I've never knew and heard about before.

Reflection 04

Today we were given extension for our portfolio assignment. Hooray! This is probably what everyone needed. However, our lecturer still go through with us one by one on how we can improve and refine on our portfolio assignment. I think it really help me, as I am lost and confused on how to do the analysis for the search engine we used for our research. But soon after the guided and sample that was pass around the class, I get the idea of what I am supposed to do.

Reflection 03

Today class was researching through meta search engine and subject directory. As compared, I feel that meta search engine is much more useful than subject directory. It searches the search engines and collated all the results into one. With this clever invention, it makes it more faster and efficient gathering the most relevant informations you want.

Subject directory on the other hand, I personally find it confusing as there might be different term for the topic you are searching for. As it is human complied, I think it is much more unreliable as it do make mistakes.

After all the different search engines I've tried, I think google is still the best for me. It has the most relevant informations I need. Well, at least I get to learn about some other search engines which I never knew it existed.
